Slowgirl, the inaugural LCT3 production of Lincoln Center Theater’s new Claire Tow Theater, officially opens on June 18. Greg Pierce’s two-person play stars Emmy winner Željko Ivanek and Sarah Steele as an uncle and niece who take refuge in the jungle of Central America. Directed by Anne Kauffman, Slowgirl runs through July 15.
Slowgirl is the story of Becky (Steele), a teenager who flees to the Costa Rican retreat of her reclusive uncle (Ivanek) to escape the aftermath of a horrific accident at a high school party. The week they spend together forces them both to confront who they are as well as what it is they are running from.
The new Claire Tow Theater is located in the new rooftop complex at Lincoln Center and will be home to all future LCT3 productions. LCT3 is a programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists as well as developing new audiences.
